Please don't downvote the comments that you think are racist/anti-immigration. You don't have to engage with them on [legal|illegal|immigrantvisa|non-immigrantvisa|racist|misc]. It reflects the mainstream opinion, otherwise the current Govt wouldn't in power. HN is probably read by a lot of people, they should at least see how the large majority of population thinks about these things so they can make up their mind on whether to immigrate to US or not.

For prospective immigrants: IMO, Trump is the best thing to happen to the world. Its not hard to make your country half-decent, just get out the two layers of taxes on all civilization (1) stop using all fossil fuels (2) get out of petrodollar

(1) is feasible now with solar and EVs + BESS.

(2) is possible right after (1).

Instead of wasting all those hard-earned petro dollars by slaving your country only to build more skyscapers in Dubai/middle-east, your country can invest in infrastructure and whatever else is needed to make it at-par with US living conditions.

If your country doesn't have the smarts to buy solar panels and install them and figure out how to do half-decent grid management, it explains why its going to poor. Even third world places like Pakistan are deploying solar at a massive scale and gaining energy independence. Why not your country?

As of 2025, solar power was the largest electricity source in Pakistan: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_power_in_Pakistan

Wow. As someone who just went through this process myself (leaving the US to get a green card via consular processing), I can only hope they hire more people to handle the increased case load. You need a medical exam and there were only 2 people available in my country to do that, which added 2 months to my application time (where I could not return to the US)
