It would have been more impressive with a human in the car during some of the stunts.
Tesla faking it at its best !
It would be an extremely cool demo if this thing was even remotely close to a car that can be produced and sold. Alas, this was something that could be used in a circus at best (where people would need to be very very far since it's very dangerous).
The lack of imagination in this thread is appalling. Especially given this crowd.
I am actually seeing what I envisioned growing up. Pretty exciting times!
Was there any demo showing the car stabilized mid-air?
It appears like they always did a barrel-roll because the car is simply not stable after take-off...
What's with the ugly design these days... even that new electric Ferrari just look terrible coming from Ferrari not even the right color
'Thrust' version takes $245,000 of downpayment (not the flying version that is 'invite only'). That money is neither escrowed nor earns an interest.
With high interest rate and tight money supply, this could get them a few billion dollars of 'customer financing'.
Something is very wrong with how that car travelled at the top of the ramp.
The uncanny valley is telling me it shouldn't have shaken at the top of the track like that unless it was on a guide rail system for the demo.
The corpses that this thing generates will be astonishing.

With such a powerful suction system, I can see this replacing street-sweeping trucks in a few years.
we humans are really responsible drivers and we definitely deserve these flying maneuvers on public transportation. there won't be any problems. i assure you.
Flies, or jumps?
Dunno. Looks like it jumps. Fying seems to require some degree of control over direction but I'm just a gravity-impaired bidep.
I do find it extremely comical that they're advertising this as a flying car when this thing uses attitude thrusters for liftoff within the atmosphere of earth. That's like, jumping, bro. There's no way you're flying with this.
God I REALLY hope all the Musk dickriders get this car and blast themselves into smithereens, it'd be so fucking funny
we humans are really responsible drivers and we definitely deserve these flying maneuvers on vehicle traffic. there won't be any problems. i assure you.
Finally a vehicle for Bangalore!
interesting they're going back to the fixed-seat bench design of the 40's-60's kind of car design - didn't know these were allowed anymore
also wonder how comfy that is? i kind of welcome it tho!
I have no words. Its like Elon asked Grok where can I take my business, and it suggested combine rockets and cars.
Screw the car, sell me a spaceship!
Good for a date I suppose. It has the suspension bridge effect.
Wasn't the positioning of Tesla "electric" cars??? Now they make rockets, that will probably never be street legal anywhere? And the public likes it? From a man who did the Nazi salute and destroyed USAid (killing thousands of children in the process)? What's wrong with people.
Elon definitely played too much Rocked Leag
Flying car? That looks more like a jumping car to me - great engineering but a bit misleading imho.
> Note: Not approved for public road use.
Rocket trim is not street legal.
It can fly? Wow! What a time to be alive!
It should have been a Delorean.... Still cool though
Awesome technical demo (assuming these weren't prop cars). Painfully awkward presentation.
It could have military applications; it's hard to imagine any civilian applications.
At this point Tesla is basically Acme Inc.
Is this a broken link for anyone else?
There’s a phrase I often used to use when referring to Elon Musk: Don’t bet against Elon.
Misdirection
The art of deliberately guiding or diverting an audience's attention away from a secret action (such as sleight of hand) so the trick can happen unnoticed. Instead of forcing the audience to look away crudely, good misdirection makes the audience want to look at something else naturally.

The rocket flip part looks like CGI, in my opinion. I get the same feeling as when I see CGI on some random B movie. Would be happy to be proven wrong if there was a crowd of people filming from their angle though.
Also "Beyond The Limits of Physics"... would any actual engineers at Tesla/SpaceX agree with that marketing statement?
Given how Tesla's profitability nearly vanished due to Elon outing himself with the "roman salute", I don't see why he thinks his company will be around long enough to actually get this out the door.
I have no reason to believe this isn't another Deplorean.
The inspiration from the F35 seems to be quite literal. Spent a lot of time and money making vertical takeoff happen, but forgot to give the vehicle any useful capability once it's actually in the air.
So it can fly?
Just like we will have 1 million robotaxis on the streets by 2021?
EDIT: wow it really can fly, that is crazy

Invite Only on the Rocket Version: Word on the street is you have to provide proof you voted Republican ticket to qualify ...
Ready to buy and sue for fraud
When I saw the headlines “Tesla shows flying car” I got excited, then watched the demo and was thoroughly disappointed. How can anyone write that headline?
Tesla hitting their lambo era?
Can't wait for these things to endanger my family's life on some Colorado mountain highways. If the suction works at speed, people are gonna drive even more recklessly.
If someone cares so much about flying, wouldn't they get much better range out of a helicopter?
Probably among the least comfortable cars to be hit by as a pedestrian or cyclist.
