Honestly I hope this is true. I recognize this is a risky thing to say, for my own employment prospects as a software engineer. But if companies like Facebook could run their operations with fewer engineers, and those people could instead start or join a larger diversity of smaller businesses, that would be a positive development.
I do think we're going to see less employment for "coding" but I remain optimistic that we're going to see more employment for "creating useful software".
