alt Hacker NewsRandom idea: What if all the activity notifications arrived at the same time, eg 8pm every day? If any interactions depend on people being synchronously online together, notifications could be a strong way to make those features work when people don't have a ton of friends on this yet.
"BeReal" tried this and I thought it was pretty cool. However, it died somewhat quickly.
