alt Hacker NewsDocuwiki (not to be confused with DokuWiki) is still the most thorough source I've seen for niche documentaries.

ed2k, nice! That reminds me of this superb piece of software: MLDonkey (https://github.com/ygrek/mldonkey), written in OCaml.
