Ok, fake science...? It's not reeally fake.. Not more fake than how ever many hallucinated papers there are out there^^ (what I mean is that the scientific process is technically being followed).

Also, the dress up is done mostly by marketing and by the big egos in the field who think that because 5 big discoveries where made in the field then every discovery is a big discovery.

That being said, research in quantum computers has contributed to adjacent fields: cryo, lasers, controls, probably semiconductor too..

And on real world value, I am not fully caught up on the improvements currently offered say in optimization problems, but definitely there's definitely real contributions in quantum communications.

So... maybe you don't appreciate the contributions but there have been some.
