I have a feeling gaming is quite harmful for spatial skills in the long run, because you learn many different maps (often transient ones in rng-ed games), rather than one fixed one. I would not be surprised if an epidemic of early mental decline begins to show in gamers in coming decades. I'm 36 now and feel like my spatial reasoning is declining in a strange severe way.

Where every spatial cue is synthetically generated by a GPU that's more valuable for cryptocurrencies and AI inference now? Where your hands don't move from a joystick, mouse, and keyboard, a spatial area of about 3sqft, except to grab your can of Pepsi or wipe your Doritos grease onto your anime tee-shirt? Where the stereo sound has a bunch of digital processing to fool the brain into thinking sounds are coming from different places, like a fucking vaudevillian ventriloquist? That kind of gaming?
