I did that with a cheap webcam years ago. All my black hoodies were white, and so were the leaves on trees.
Yup. IR images are cool. Snowscapes in the summer.
Cheap cameras are best, as they don't have too much precalibrated stuff.
I converted a Nikon D70s, and it still works great.
