I was angered and frustrated to find (the hard way) that some states have statutes which explicitly relieve storage companies from responsibility in the event of loss from theft.

The entity in the best position to know how to secure the premises is not liable to do so at all in some states.

Oh, and don’t get me started on ballooning but opaque rental rates.

I wanted to pay up front for 2-3 years of storage but most places “couldn’t” quote me what the rate would be beyond 3 months in advance.

Such a scammy industry.
