Perhaps I'm too old for this conversation but surely cursive is writing normally?

Yes. Roughly zero people my age would consider cursive to be normal. The number I've seen is that you're in the 20% that does.
How exactly is cursive writing "normal" though? Do you see this text all connected and cursive? It's clearly not (unless you have some custom font setup).
