My eldest son was so damaged by the cult of obsolete writing that he has to do everything on computer now, including exams. His writing before was neat and fast.
Seems like a simple problem to solve for the schools. Don't accept typed work. Handwriting only. It was 25 years ago now but I remember learning cursive about age 7 or 8 and it was something we worked on for no more than a few months. And I feel like most kids were excited to be able to write like 'adults'. It's really not some insurmountable challenge.
