I’ve got a Corolla hybrid. Fantastic car— great basic utility, reasonable comfort, zero sporting pretension and an honest high 50s mpg.
If you consider one, be sure to get blind spot detection in the mirrors. I didn’t, it is the worst car I’ve ever had for blind spots.
Too little too late. I bought a BYD Atto 2 this month and it's great.
My statements up till now were "yeah I'll get an EV when Toyota makes one" except here we are.
It is unbelievable how badly Toyota has fumbled the EV market.
I really hope the interior doesn't look like what the concept seems to show, with a bunch of functionality relegated to screens. Screens are terrible UI for cars.

I mean it looks kinda dope.
As long as they can keep the Corolla ethos of it being built like a tank in that it was nearly indestructible in terms of reliability and practical and affordable, then we are good.
Is the BEV version really that much more expensive just because of the battery? It costs that much more than an engine?
Is it that hard? Take a normal car, take engine out, put electric motor in. Don't fuck around with the inside.
5 minutes charging? No Solid State? No Swapping? No Hydrogen? No

Just another ugly car. These days they all look like angry vacuum cleaners.
I love the aggressive design which is a stark contrast to the quirky toy designs that plagued EVs early on.

Corolla is supposed to be the cheap one. But this concept looks way too flashy and the prices seem quite "meh" for affordability.
What a missed opportunity.

Any design of a future car with manual controls is already obsolete or admitting they have no autonomy stack.
Given Toyota's history on EV execution and their chairman who likes to wear the red hat clown costume and parade around and support the Jan 6th insurrection, I'm not waiting around for this mediocre junk to come out. D- for the effort.
They will absolutely make this EV extremely mediocre and then tell the world that nobody wants EVs. Sub 50kW charging, limited to only a few times a day, terrible range, terrible interiors that still don't support iOS/Android screens.
It's not even confirmed for the US.
I really don’t think the legacy Japanese or the American auto makers get it. People don’t want goofy offshot designs for their EV’s. They want regular ass looking cars.
