They're actively making it impossible to use search engines for their intended purpose, and instead of fixing it the search engine providers seem more interested in simply offering their own slop for you to consume rather than direct you to anywhere actually useful. It's tragic.
Side effect of wealth inequality. You don't get rich by offering services to customers any more, instead you have to look like you're doing something cool to investors. Market Darwinism is switched off.
