This is my experience exactly. We used to host a monthly board gaming party before we moved and it was very energizing and exhausting at the same time.

After the two kids the games disappeared and it just became a normal party where we could talk and such and a playdate for the our and the other parents kids.

We will probably do it again when we settle into a new home at least I hope.
