IIRC correctly, the stratus PL/1 thing went back to the main hardware designer being big on PL/1 at IBM (PL/1 compiler group maybe?). Also, fun trivia - the Stratus was apparently the first (only?) mini/mainframe that IBM rebadged (they sold it as the model 88)
