I always see people complaining about failing LED lamps. It’s almost always because people are using lamps rated for open fixtures in enclosed fixtures. If it’s not a table lamp or standing lamp, it’s likely an enclosed fixture. A recessed can with an open bottom is considered an enclosed fixture, and so is an open-bottom chandelier globe.

I suggest only buying enclosed rated fixture lamps because they put out less heat and will last longer in an open or enclosed fixture.

Many retailers only sell open fixture lamps. And you need to read the fine print on the packaging to know that. Most consumers have no idea that this is even a thing.
