a) why are we comparing treated death rates with untreated death rates?

b) COVID got significantly less deadly as it evolved, which is a known phenomenon that should also apply to this plague

I guess how bad the situation is depends how quickly that 100% chance of dying pans out.

The quicker it is, the less it spreads.

presumably 100% fatality rate means the virus won't get very far, depending on incubation period
