As a student (not using LLMs to cheat in any way), I have used AI as a sort of intellectual sparring partner, where I discuss my errors in practice and create frameworks to learn topics in depth. My progress has grown exponentially since I started using AI, so my experience has been quite positive up to now. However most people will not have such puritanical ideas when using it, so in the long term LLMs will probably have an adverse effect on the educational standard of the world.
