They were fined because they broke the law. Many consider these fines, a slap on the wrist. Personally I support much harsher and detrimental punishments in such cases.

You misunderstood me. I wasn't saying they didn't break the law, I honestly have no idea if they did. I was only saying that some people like the law because it makes people/companies which they hate (possibly for valid reasons) suffer. In other words they like only the sentence.
