What is the difference between Apple paying another business to make something and Netflix paying a W-2 employee to make something? Both businesses can choose to end paying for media before the story is finished.

Although, I think Netflix also does not directly employ the people that make media, just like Apple. They just employ the people that curate it and distribute it.
