My first CSE class in college was two quarters long and self-paced. We could use the lab all we wanted. I somehow found out the logic and meaning of the term "iff" and so I found a way to appropriately use it in an answer to a quiz. I scored a bonus point, as the TA was impressed. She circled it and made a encouraging comment. I was so pleased to be an apt pupil in that class.
