Ubuntu issues a version release every 6 months, and there are updated packages in the interim.

I'm on Kubuntu (home installs) but have been looking to move since Ubuntu went over to Snaps and started breaking everything (MX looks most likely for me). The task of moving the family over is stopping me; I've been using Kubuntu for a very long time now.

You can just use Debian Testing/Unstable. It's good enough that's where Ubuntu sources their packages anyway.

And most don't use interim releases. Alan Pope of formerly canonical said multiple times that by their educated estimates LTS releases have something like two orders of magnitude more users, and interim is really testing ground for LTS.

Just use debian testing.
