They forced PSD2 with """"""""""""""Open Banking""""""""""""""" which requires convoluted requirements and is regulated to death so no private person can call the API themselves and get e.g. their balance or transactions.

How is that worse? It's only "open" in the sense that other licensed businesses can provide services that integrate with your bank account, but it didn't take anything away.
I like complaining about it too, but it's still a massive step forward from how things were before, where I had no access. Now I at least have access even if it involves going via third parties.
